Thanks everyone! I have opted to order the Vans sea and will give that a try. I agree with Andy, it looks like it will keep the rain out.
Since I’ll have my wings off, I can trim what is necessary to make it fit.
Thanks again!

Fred, the gap can be pretty wide, maybe even a little over a 1/4" and probably need to be at least an 1/8". I was able to cover the normal gap between wing and fuselage without doing the extra filler strips on the top and bottom of wing where it meets the straight part of the fuselage. You of course still need to do the forward strips around the leading edge.
The more narrow the gap, the more the "tail" of the seal will lay against the fuselage. It is hard at first to get it to follow the fuselage away from the wing as you are sliding the wings in (may want to fold under) but once it is on for a while it tends the remember the shape. If it does fold under you can flip it up/out by running something thin between the fuselage and seal.
It seals pretty tightly and even though I have not had mine out in the rain, I would think that it would be sealed pretty well against it. I will post some pics to my site if you want to see what it looks like.

Andrew,
Can you remember the size of the gap required for the Vans Y channel?
Thanks
Fred

Sean, I used the Vans seal (I guess its a Y channel). It seems to seal up nicely but I don't have anything to compare it to since I started out with it. May require a slightly wider wing/fuse gap than you probably have for the U channel because it is fairly thick.

Check out the Minor Rubber Co. One of these seals might be worth looking into:

The Trim-Lock might be too stiff if the U-channel has aluminum imbedded.

Hey Everyone!
I am in the process of making some cosmetic changes to my Panther. While I have my wings loose, I am planing to replace my wing root rubber U channel. Has anyone found something that works really well? I would love to find something that would actually seal up the wing gap and keep water out.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
Sean
