Rick,
I'm familiar with the technique of putting an aluminum strip on the underside of the wing tip. I experimented with attaching the wing tips without the strips and the rivets did not crush the fiberglass and had no tendency to pull through the fiberglass. I attached both wing tips and all other fiberglass end caps without the strips. No problems whatsoever.

Fiberglass tip aluminum strip
Have any of you guys glued .020 aluminum strips inside your wing and tail fiberglass tips for the rivits to bond to? Some RVers do it but not mentioned in the manual so I assume Dan and Paul find it unnecessary.
