Fred,
Egts are right where they need to be.
2800 i get about 1350 aveage. Spread 1320 to 1365.
Above that they are around 1250 cause it is on the main jet.
Chts. In climb at 80kt. #5 gets to 330 and stays there. At 90kts #5 goes down to 320.
Any type of cruise flying they are all below 290.

Glen
Most of the parts are available. Only need to order a mount. We dont have any in stock. Take 4-6 weeks to get one.

Ben,
Great job and thanks for the numbers! Please keep us posted as your flying time progresses. I would be interested in hearing your engine info as well (egt, cht).

Thanks,
Fred

Not so new builder

Post by BenK »

So I have been told i don"t talk enough on the forum. So, here it goes.
My name is Ben Krotje. I am builder SN007
Many people might know me from the Jabiru work that my father and I have done over the last 20 years.
Others may know me from my work with Grand Rapids Technologies for a few years.

I got my tail kit in 2013 at Oshkosh and started the build. Changed jobs, states, marital status, and started a business. Continued to build when i could and completed the airplane in October 2016. Did the first flight in early November 2016.

As many can guess I powered my airplane with the Jabiru 3300A engine. I am using a Sensenich 62''Dia prop with 58'' of pitch. It needs a bit more pitch and might work better with a little less diameter, but it works well for now. The panel is a Garmin G3X touch system with remote radio, transponder, and ADSb in and out.

The airplane is 733Lbs Empty. With no paint yet.
CG work out quite well at 69.5'' for the normal people. I am 260Lbs so i cant take much in the baggage but if i was only 200 Lbs It would be very nicely balanced.

I am pretty amazed by the performance so far. Keep in mind the prop i am currently using is not perfect and i am still figuring out the best way to fly the airplane.

Rough numbers for climb
80Kts 1200fpm
90Kts 1400fpm
100kts 1600fpm

Cruise numbers@3000'MSL
2800RPM 135Kts
2950RPM 142Kts
3270RPM 162Kts

Easy to build and easy to fly.
