Hats off and a snappy salute to Andy and his Dad!! I was back in Delaware recently and saw a Champ painted OD green with a big white USMC on the bottom of the wings. Keep it in mind for the next paint job.

That is a super cool Champ and a mega cool son and father team! What a special blessing to have them visit.

Just another Champ?

Post by Tony Spicer »

Nope, don't think so. It's the only Champ in existence sporting a Panther part.

In the front seat is Panther builder Andy Shorter. Andy is USMC Retired, and a Harrier pilot. In the back seat is Andy's Dad, a 92 year old WWII B-29 pilot. Andy and his Dad flew from New Bern, NC, to Stag Air Park on an absolutely gorgeous day just to sit around and swap lies. On the flight over, the bottom door hinge broke. Not a problem, I said. I just happen to have a Panther canopy hinge and a hacksaw. 30 minutes later, a new door hinge much stronger than the original.
