Thanks Tony! They did a STOL kit for me 25 or so years ago on a 172 I took to AK. Sent them an email looking for info and pricing.

I spent 3 years at SJAFB and loved coastal NC and the mountains. The area in between not so much...I do miss the NC BBQ and shrimp and grits.

No issues with wind in coastal NC. Just an occasional hurricane.

Very nicely documented Tony!

Question about your shop doors...I really like the translucent panels. Do you have any issues with wind? I'm planning a hanger as soon as I find the right property and would need insulated doors but the type you have could be used 8 months out of the year.

Thanks Guys! I have reviewed your instructions s number of times over last week or so. My plan was to follow your lead best I can. I'll request a copy of the draft instructions from Rachel. I will be ready to start the canopy in the next week or so.

My tail wheel spring was pre cut and drilled at SPA. I think I will just use AN3 bolts of proper length.

I ordered the SPA wheel pants from Rachel last week too.

I think this will keep me busy for a while!

I really appreciate ALL of your help!!!

Sean,

If you want a factory step-by-step then you'll need to wait for the BM.

If you want to see the details of what's involved, have a look here:

Sean,
There is a canopy drawing and a draft copy of instructions. Talk with Rachel when your ready to start canopy. 3 or 4 of us have completed the canopy install.

Tailwheel, I used bolts that fit and SPA is working on TW steering link rod. Should be ready soon.
Is your TW rod cut to length and pre drilled?

Wheel pants, I used Sam Jams wheel pant for the 5x4.5 which I purchased from SPA and they have PDF for bracket. I cut my wheel pant down 2", just think it looked better.

SPA is working hard on the finishing items.

Canopy instructions and additional builders amnuals.

Post by Seansull »

Hi Everyone!

Are the canopy installation instructions available yet, or do we just figure things out?

Here are a few other items that I am curious about. Are these included in the existing builders manuals and I have overlooked them?

Autopilot servo locations (I know these aren't included, anyone have suggestions?)
Tail wheel/spring rigging and hardware call outs
Wheel pant/additional finishing items

Thanks!
