Re: A very basic main wing spar question
Any hole that the rivet will slip into without sticking, and is under .20" diameter is okay. I would certainly try to keep on the small side, where the rivet slips in easily, usually between .189 and .194" (#10). If you want to use the reamer and the rivets fit, go for it.

Thanks Paul, one other question, it is ok to updrill the spar solid rivet holes with a #16 drill then ream to .1890 OR using a #10 drill as mentioned in the BM?

Yes, temporary bolts are installed to keep everything in line. Obviously, at some point, you will need to install some other temporary fasteners so you can up-drill the holes the temporary bolts are installed in.
Make sure you take pictures/ mark the spar pieces so you can put them back together again after you deburr everything.

A very basic main wing spar question
Before I start drilling into these beautiful main wing spars one dumb question, the idea is to updrill (and for some holes also countersink) all solid rivet and close tolerance bolt holes BEFORE ever removing the factory bolts and disassembling the spar, correct?
