A quick question on Scotch Brite pads for deburring. There seems to be dozens of different types of scotch brite products for deburring just about anything. What have you all found works best?

Hi Guys,
Now you have some info on what you need. You need to check with builders in your area that have completed there Aircraft on what you can barrow or buy used.

Yep, there's a list. When you get a builder number you'll have access to all the documentation. At the beginning of each section in the Builder's Manual is a list of the tools required to complete that particular operation. It is by no means a complete list. It may say you need #30/#40 drills. It will not list the tool required to spin those drills. Ditto dimple dies. Good recommendations by all the other posters. Read and ask questions before you start spending.

The tools section is not complete on my site, but I plan to spend some time finishing that up this weekend.

Totally depends on money. A good start would be a file, a Cleco plier, some 3/32 and 1/8 clecos, and and some sandpaper and scotch brite pads. Wiss or Irwin aviation snips. Then an electric drill, the higher the rpm, the better, say 2000 plus from anywhere north of harbour freight. #30 and #40 drill bits. A metal ruler in metric and US. A long straightedge. 4 straight 2x4s and a level table. Some sort of manual rivet gun and manual dimpler at the least.

If you want a more comprehensive view,go to zenith or Sonex to see tool list. Probably better than Vans bc they don't include all the stuff for a driven rivet plane. A lot more tooling you won't use. Over this you can spend thousands,but each element just adds an element of convenience, more than necessity.
