To date , we have spent virtually no time on 51% approval in US or getting the OK to build in other countries. We made the commitment to stay the course the best we knew how and not invest anytime into this until we have the Kit production and documentation finished (we it may never be finished but ...) Also We have not had what is needed for Kit "evaluation" in the past so it wasn't even something we could consider(you must have the entire kit ,including all levels of prebuilt parts etc ready for inspection ). In the coming months we will have what's needed in place and we will see what makes sense. I think we are leaning toward having the Panther LS and S models evaluated by the NEKET in the US .As I understand from talking with other Canadian builders ,If on US 51% it would allow you to build in Canada? We have been busier than ever trying to sweep up final parts and documentation for the Panther ,and while not quite there were are making steady progress. Hope this helps

So I did some research into the 51% rule in Canada.

What has to happen is the kit/plans must be inspected by a MDR-A representative in Canada.

Here is a clip from a COPA Document in Canada for Amature build aircraft:

"All aircraft, whether built from plans or a kit, are still required to meet the Major Portion (51%) rule. This can only be demonstrated in two ways:
 Confirm that the kit is on the joint FAA/TC Listing Of Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits, in which case it is considered to meet the rule or
 Have MD-RA complete a Major Portion determination for the project (there is a fee of $395 plus tax, for this service)"

furthermore

"This means that any aircraft that is not on the list must have a Major Portion determination – no exceptions. Even if an identical kit has previously been assessed, if it is not on the list then your kit will also have to be assessed as each project is unique. Complaints about this problem should be directed to the kit manufacturer as it is up to them to request a Major Portion (at least 51%) determination of the kit. Once that is done and the kit is on the list, builders will no longer have to pay for Major Portion (at least 51%) determinations on each kit."

Does anyone know if Dan has done this so that us Canadians can build his aircraft?

If he does have it done then I will order the tail jit this week
